If there was any doubt that Mosaic has become Northern Virginia’s foodie hot spot, the Washington Post presents three more reasons to discover Mosaic.

In their Express article, writer Holley Simmons provides some “don’t miss” advice when visiting the community, which is just a 16-minute walk from Dunn Loring Metro station. Don’t want to make the walk? Fret not. Mosaic offers a Metro shuttle which runs every 12 minutes during rush hour.

If you’re thinking of making Mosaic “home”, hurry in. We have less than 20 townhomes remaining. Visit our model home and onsite sales center today, we’re open daily from 11 AM – 6 PM.

EYA homes are not the only new additions to Old Town Alexandria, Bethesda, Mosaic District, Arts District Hyattsville, and Silver Spring. Take an exciting look at what is coming to your neighborhood!

Old Town Alexandria

Carluccio’s – The UK-based restaurant and market plans to open its first location in the United States at 100 King Street in Old Town. As mentioned in an Old Town Alexandria Patch article, the man behind the vision, Italian Chef Antonio Carluccio, describes Carluccio’s as “an Italian café, restaurant and food shop, renowned for bringing authentic and traditional Italian cooking and ingredients to families in a relaxing and friendly environment.” Our newest Old Town neighborhoods at The Oronoco and Old Town Commons are perfectly situated minutes from Carluccio’s future location and all the other acclaimed King Street shops and restaurants.

MoMo Chicken and Jazz – Bethesda recently welcomed this Korean restaurant and bar to the neighborhood at 4862 Cordell Avenue. Under the same ownership as the popular New York City restaurant, Turntable, MoMo Chicken and Jazz offers delicious food, great music, and a wonderful overall environment and experience. Be sure to try the Korean fried chicken and exotic cocktails while enjoying the unique restaurant décor. MoMo Chicken and Jazz is a great neighborhood addition and just moments from our brand new townhomes at Little Falls Place.

Mosaic District

True Food Kitchen – The restaurant focused on an anti-inflammatory diet under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Weil will be coming soon to Mosaic District at 2905 District Avenue. True Food Kitchen is located in five other states around the country, but Mosaic will be the first in the Mid-Atlantic region. Diners will enjoy a wide range of healthy, yet still delicious, dishes proven to make you feel better. True Food Kitchen is proud of its vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options, ensuring there is something for everyone on the menu. Our homes at Mosaic District are within walking distance of this soon to be healthy oasis.

Arts District Hyattsville

The Vigilante Coffee Co. Roastery and Cafe – The previously nomadic coffee company opened shop earlier this month in Hyattsville at 4327 Gallatin Street. The Vigilante Coffee Co. Roastery and Cafe, featured in The Washington Post’s Going Out Guide, also sells pastries and snacks to accompany their original coffee blends. While waiting in line at the coffee bar, costumers are entertained by the stages of coffee production happening right before their eyes. Founder, Chris Vigilante, plans to get involved in the Hyattsville community by holding “Coffee College” for those interested in starting their own coffee business and will lead weekly small single-origin coffee cuppings for anyone to participate in. The new Vigilante Coffee location is conveniently located steps from our homes at Arts District Hyattsville.

Silver Spring

Denizens Brewing Co. – Earlier this summer, Silver Spring welcomed Denizens Brewing Co. to 1115 East-West Highway. Costumers love the sense of community at the brewery because it was founded by and is run by locals. Denizens offers expansive outdoor seating in their beautiful biergarten. It’s a great place to enjoy a nice Summer day! For the time being, all beers are on tap. Denizens is only minutes away from our townhomes at Chelsea Heights.

EYA Townhomes in Fairfax VA

What’s it really like living in an EYA home? Washington Post contributor Katharine Salant recently spent 2 days living in our Aster Model Home at Mosaic District in Fairfax, VA to get a taste.

Not too surprisingly, the loft and rooftop terrace were determined to be a huge bonus, as they are with many of our homeowners.  Salant also noted that “Nearly as compelling as the Aster itself is the urban lifestyle that is part of the Mosaic District package…” With a free Metro shuttle and dozens of new onsite retail shops and restaurants, Mosaic District has become Fairfax’s hottest new destination neighborhood. Read the full article.

Mosaic District is currently sold out, but Phase 2 townhomes are scheduled to open in September 2014. Sign up here to receive email updates and grand opening announcements.

More Retailers Flock to Mosaic District

July 1, 2013 | by | 0 Comments

Mosaic District continues to heat up with new retail openings and announcements.

Alex and Ani Jewelry Store opened its doors June 14, offering a unique collection of eco-friendly accessories that adorn the body, enlighten the mind, and empower the spirit.

Designer Carolyn Rafaelian aims to incorporate deep symbolism in each piece so that the wearer can express their individuality. Through her work, Rafaelian hopes she can help others learn to value themselves and find positive energy from within, instead of always seeking energy externally.

In addition to the individual bangles, necklaces, earrings, and rings, the Rhode-Island based brand has various collections catered to specific groups. The collections range from the armed forces, described as heroic, patriotic, and selfless, to Graduation 2013, which reflects the ideas of adventure, success, and possibility. The inspiration behind these collections is to instill pride in each person for who they are, whether that be a recent graduate, a volunteer in the army, or a member of a national sorority.

And, it was just announced with much excitement, that True Food Kitchen will be coming to Mosaic District next summer. Focused on healthy foods, the restaurant aims to pair popular cuisine trends with nutrient-rich foods. The restaurant was developed in partnership with best-selling wellness author, Dr. Andrew Weil, who endorses an anti-inflammatory diet.

“You don’t have to be a die-hard Yogi to dine at True Food Kitchen” the True Food Kitchen website explains. “You need only a desire to give your body nutrients, and your palate something memorable.”

This will be the restaurant’s first East Coast location. True Food Kitchen joins Mosaic District’s hot dining scene, alongside Cava Mezze Grill, Cyclone Anaya’s, Dolcezza Gelato, Gypsy Soul, Le Pain Quotidien, Matchbox Vintage Pizza, Red Apron Butcher, sweetgreen, and Taylor Gourmet.

St. Patrick’s Day Like a Local

March 12, 2013 | by | 0 Comments

St. Patrick’s Day is a great reason to get out and have fun this weekend! There are many ways to celebrate without having to venture too far from your EYA Neighborhood. Here are some local special events and activities for St. Patrick’s Day 2013.

Old Town Alexandria, VA

Don’t worry if you missed the Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year, there are still many ways to celebrate within steps from EYA’s Old Town Commons Neighborhood and The Oronoco Condos!

First, stop by The Irish Walk on King Street and pick up some St. Patrick’s Day garb. This beloved Irish gift shop has everything from decorations and shamrock sunglasses to traditional Irish jewelry and teas.

Then, walk down by the river and join local restaurant Virtue Feed and Grain for their St. Patrick’s Day Party in Wales Alley from 11:30AM-10PM. There will be live music, Irish dancers, not to mention Irish Feast specials, like Steak and Guinness Pie, Irish Lamb Stew, and Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Or, if you are just looking for a tall pint of Guinness and some live music, you can choose between two local Irish pub favorites, Murphy’s Pub on King’s street or Ireland’s Own Pub (formerly Pat Troy’s) – Both St. Patty’s Day celebrations are offering live music, dancing, and food and drink specials starting bright and early at 9AM.

Pop in to your favorite local Pub this St. Patrick's Day for a delicious Irish feast and glass of Guinness.

Mosaic District in Fairfax, VA

Start out your St. Patrick’s Day weekend on Friday night at O’Malley’s Irish Pub. This Tyson’s Corner favorite, will feature food and beverage specials and live music all weekend starting Friday night for St. Patrick’s Day! Indulge in an Irish microbrew beer tasting from 4-6PM and stay for live music until 10.

For a more traditional take on St. Patrick’s Day, have a delightful cup of Irish Tea in historic Hunter House as part of Fairfax County’s Parktakes Series. Beginning at 2PM on Saturday, March 16, feast on savories, Irish soda bread and strawberry jam, seasonal fruit and green cupcakes.

If beer is your preference this holiday, stop in at local Falls Church Brewery Mad Fox Brewing Company for St. Patrick’s Day specials of their featured home-brews, St. James Irish Stout and Rock Star Irish Red Ale, running all weekend long!

And to top off your St. Patty’s Day in Fairfax, spend your Sunday at Ireland’s Four Provinces Restaurant and Pub for “K’Eggs.” Northern Virginia’s favorite Irish joint opens at 8AM with a traditional Irish breakfast, or an American breakfast, an Irish Coffee, Bloody Mary or a 4P’s Mimosa. Live music will be playing all day!

Chancellor’s Row in Brookland, DC

Located just a few miles from EYA’s Chancellor’s Row Neighborhood, local pub Shaw’s Tavern is hosting their first annual St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival! The festival begins at 11AM on Sunday, located on 6th Street NW between Florida and S St., and will feature an expanded patio with food and beverage, live music, activities for the kids, as well as booths filled with community vendors and information.  It is free and open to all ages.

Travel a bit further to Constitution Ave to view the annual Nation’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade! The parade begins at Noon and runs along Constitution Ave from 7th to 17th Streets NW. This family friendly parade will sport floats, marching bands, pipe bands, military, police, and local fire departments. Local Irish pubs will sponsor parade parties featuring Irish musicians, dancers and singers.

On your way home, stop by the Boundary Stone in Bloomingdale. This neighborhood locale is a place where locals can come to “relax, drink and nourish their souls.” Sample their fish and chips and sip on an Irish Whiskey to complete your St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Little Falls Place in Bethesda, MD

Begin your weekend not too far from EYA’s Little Falls Place with a hearty brunch at Redwood Restaurant and Bar. Redwood’s annual Local Eggs N’ Fresh Kegs special starts at 10AM and goes until 3PM on Saturday, March 16. Enjoy their outdoor bar, seasonal and locally grown food, and tasty beers. The brunch buffet is only $15 (includes one complimentary pint) and the Guinness special is just $5! What a steal!

Need a sweet treat? Stop by Georgetown Cupcake – Bethesda and choose (if you can) between their delectable Irish Crème, St. Patrick’s Day Chocolate or St. Patrick’s Day Vanilla cupcakes.

Visit local Cupcakeries for their St. Patrick's Day specialty designs and flavors. De-lish!

Sunday morning, be sure to head to Tommy Joe’s St. Patrick’s Day Party and enjoy a FREE breakfast buffet and incredible drink specials from 9AM-12PM. Then, later that evening, continue the celebration with a seated dinner, drinks, Irish dancers, and even bag pipers at Bethesda’s traditional Irish Pub Flanagan’s Harp & Fiddle!

However you choose to celebrate this year, we hope you have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend!

And now, to end with our favorite Irish joke – At an Irish wedding reception, someone yelled, “Would all the married men please stand next to the one person who has made your life worth living.” The bartender was almost crushed to death.
