Restoration of Lustine Center Honored with Preservation Award

The Maryland Historical Trust honored The Lustine Center at Arts District Hyattsville with a “Preservation Project Award”—one of only 7 awards given annually statewide.

The Lustine Center opened in 1950 as the showroom for the Lustine-Nicholson Motor Company along Route 1 (the historic “Motor Mile”). When EYA began redevelopment at Arts District Hyattsville, the company partnered with local historians to save the building.

Today, The Lustine Center has been fully restored and now serves as the community center for residents of Arts District Hyattsville. Numerous architectural details and murals have been preserved and the building now includes an art gallery, fitness center, juice bar, billiards, and meeting space.

To tour the space, visit the sales office at 4424 Longfellow Street in downtown Hyattsville. Appointments can be requested by calling (301) 209-0116.
