City of Alexandria and EYA Host USCG Tall Ship Eagle Sept. 4 - 8

Written by EYA Homes | August 31, 2017

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle – “America’s tall ship” – will visit Old Town Alexandria September 4 – 8 as part of its East Coast tour. Co-hosted by the City of Alexandria and EYA, the Eagle will dock at the pier adjacent to Robinson Landing.

The ship will pass through the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on Monday, September 4, at approximately 8:30 am, and will dock at Robinson Landing at approximately 9:30 am. The City recommends viewing the arrival of the ship from Jones Point Park, Fords Landing City Park, or Point Lumley Park in historic Old Town.

For anyone who would like to tour the ship, the Eagle will host free tours on September 4 from 1 pm to 8 pm and September 6 from 10 am to 7 pm. No tickets are required. The ship will depart Alexandria on September 8 at approximately 4:15 am.

The Eagle is the largest tall ship flying the U.S. flag and the only active commissioned sailing vessel in American military service. Built in Hamburg, Germany, in 1936, Eagle was taken as a war reparation by the U.S. and re-commissioned by the U.S. Coast Guard. Learn more about the ship here.

Robinson Landing is EYA's newest Old Town Alexandria neighborhood, soon to feature luxury condominiums, elevator townhomes, fine dining and retail, new public promenade and a revitalized pier. The community is scheduled to open for sales later this Fall. For updates and more detail, visit us online
