EYA Foundation Awards Grant Recipient

Written by EYA Homes | May 26, 2016

The EYA Foundation is excited to announce one of its recently awarded grant recipients, the Alexandria Seaport Foundation (ASF). ASF supports at-risk youth through mentoring, project-based learning and wooden boat building.

The donation will help to fund ASF’s Apprentice Program for young adults ages 18-22 who face barriers to employment and the Middle School Math Program implemented in industrial arts classes in Alexandria and Arlington schools.

EYA Senior Vice President, AJ Jackson, and EYA Foundation Director, Genna Love, presented a check to ASF staff and met with volunteers and apprentices at the organization’s boat-building center on the Old Town, Alexandria waterfront.

More than 500 apprentices from Northern Virginia and the metropolitan region have participated in ASF’s Apprentice Program since 1993 and approximately 150 students struggling in math are engaged in the math program each year.

The EYA Foundation was created to give back in the communities where we build through grant awards, training programs, volunteer support and donation events.
