St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner and celebrations have already begun throughout the DC area. Whether it's enjoying delicious Irish cuisine while listening to authentic Irish music or bringing the family out to watch a parade, there is fun for everyone this festive weekend. Here are some of our favorite events near EYA neighborhoods.

Gaithersburg’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Gaithersburg kicks off their 18th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday, March 10. Dress the kids in green and bring them out to enjoy this family-friendly event beginning at 10 AM at Rio Washingtonian. The parade will feature Irish dancers, pipes and drums, fire trucks and much more.

SHAMROCK & ROLL at Union Jack’s in Gaithersburg
This typically British pub turns Irish for a St. Paddy’s Day celebration you won’t want to miss. Their annual SHAMROCK & ROLL bash starts early on March 17, with a free Irish breakfast from 9-11 AM. Enjoy food and drink specials and live music all day at this sure-to-be-fun event!

Celtic Rock at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club
For a real treat, head over to Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club for an evening of dining and entertainment. This amazing venue features an art deco concert hall that takes you back in time. This St. Patrick's Day, former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley's celtic rock band will take the stage, entertaining guests with a mix of traditional Irish and original songs, high octane fiddle and more. Be sure to get tickets while you still can!

The National Shamrock Fest
The Shamrock Fest is great fun for St. Patricks Day party go-ers. This annual event is held at RFK stadium and features a range of entertainment from big name bands to Irish dancers and bag pipers. The festival also includes Irish merchandise vendors, party games and much more. If you are seeking some good ol' shenanigans this holiday weekend, this is the place you are likely to find them!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade
A bit less on the wild side, but just as festive, the 48th annual Washington, DC St. Patrick's Day Parade will make it's way through town on Sunday, March 11. Floats, marching bands, pipe bands and more will head down Constitution Avenue celebrating DC Irish culture. Hint: try and snag a spot between 15th and 16th St NW. Here you will be next to the judges reviewing stand, where each group will be performing for the judges!

Flying Feet & Fiddle Bows: An Irish Celebration
Let's not forget the wee ones this St. Paddy's Day. The Smithsonian's Discovery Theater is hosting Flying Feet & Fiddle Bows: An Irish Celebration for kids ages 5-12. Learn about Irish musical traditions and enjoy high-stepping fun. Purchase tickets here

Murphy’s Irish Pub Celebrations
Not sure if you are ready to celebrate with the best of them this St. Patrick's Day? Not to worry, head over to Murphy's for "St. Practice Day" on March 10. Get ready for the big day by sampling Irish cuisine, whiskeys and practicing the words to Irish sing-alongs. Then enjoy the full-on festivities on March 17 when doors open at 8 AM with live music,. dancing and merriment throughout the day.

Irish Date Night
If you would prefer to avoid the crowds, pick up an Irish Date Night bag from local favorite Society Fair. Available on March 16, these take home delights prepared by Chef Armstrong feature Shepher's Pie, Irish Cesar Salad, Blackwell Tart and of course, Irish beer.
