DC Food Trucks Offer Gourmet on the Go

Written by EYA Homes | May 10, 2011
After you've explored your neighborhood's restaurant row, get ready to go mobile - because DC's food truck scene is as hot as jalapeno mac-n-cheese.

Once reserved for construction sites, food trucks aren't the mobile hot dog stands you're used to. Today, you can nosh on a variety of gourmet creations - anything from latin BBQ pork arepas to pork banh mi to lobster rolls. Yes, lobster rolls.

Local food tracker Food Truck Fiesta has a streaming list of trucks on Twitter and an interactive map showing their current locations. Finding your next great meal is easy: just pan the map, pick a spot and click the label. It'll even tell you whether the truck accepts credit cards (most do).

Mark your calendar for Friday, June 3rd, where the area's best food trucks will converge on Das Bullpen across from Nationals Stadium for a curbside cookoff. Just steps from EYA's DC townhome community Capitol Quarter, the event is scheduled from 11 AM - 9 PM.

Hop out, see some DC-area sights and let your culinary adventure begin. After all, it's all about life within walking distance!
