After months of rumored whisperings and vague status updates from the owner’s themselves, [Chocolate City Beer](http://chocolatecitybeer.com/) has finally announced the details surrounding their opening and launch party.

After much anticipation from DC beer enthusiasts, Choc City Brew is the [second micro-brewery to hit D.C.](http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/youngandhungry/2011/04/15/dc-brau-goes-public-tonight/) after the successful [DC Brau](http://www.dcbrau.com/welcome.cfm). The three owners of Chocolate City Beer have been working for the past year to clear out an [old building on 8](http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2010/11/update-on-chocolate-city-beer-coming-to-brooklandedgewood-border/)[th](http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2010/11/update-on-chocolate-city-beer-coming-to-brooklandedgewood-border/)[ Street](http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2010/11/update-on-chocolate-city-beer-coming-to-brooklandedgewood-border/), located just around the corner fro[m Chancellor's Row](https://www.eya.com/Chancellors_Row_at_Brookland_Metro), to house their "nano-brewery." Now, after receiving all their licensing, they’re finally ready to launch.

Sources say that the small company will [producing about 50 kegs per week](http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/youngandhungry/2011/08/10/get-ready-for-d-c-s-newest-local-brew-chocolate-city-beer-launches-next-week/), which will be available at various neighborhood restaurants. This is a production brewery only, so there is no on-site service available.

The best part about the launch of this new brewery? Their [launch party](http://chocolatecitybeer.com/content/chocolate-city-beers-launch-party-rfd) is free and open to the public! Join **Choc City Brew** on **Thursday, August 18** at RFD’s Backroom from 9pm to close. **$4** pints all night long!
