A staple weekend destination since its creation in 1871, the Eastern Market is the oldest continuously run open farmers’ market in DC and attracts a wide variety of artists, craftsmen, and food venders to its [Capitol Hill location](http://maps.google.com/maps?q=225+7th+Street+Southeast,+Washington+D.C.,+DC&hl=en&sll=38.887262,-77.021942&sspn=0.010573,0.01987&z=16). The indoor section of the market is housed in South Hall and is open every day of the week except for Monday. Here, you can find a wide variety of fresh food, including fresh meats, cheeses, produce and sweet treats. If you’re not completing your specialty grocery shopping and are ready to enjoy a meal without having to lug it home and prepare it – try Market Lunch.
