Giving back to the communities where we build is an important part of EYA's culture. Last Friday, more than 40 EYA team members came together for the EYA Foundation's annual Day of Service. This year, we partnered with Cornerstones, a Northern Virginia nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve greater stability and brighter futures through access to stable housing, food security and more.
The day provided an opportunity for team members to learn more about the organization's mission and work together on hands-on volunteer projects that support residents throughout the region.
For more than 55 years, Cornerstones has served Northern Virginia communities by helping individuals and families access essential resources, including housing, food, and other services that promote long-term stability and well-being.
EYA team members began their day by learning about Cornerstones' programs and the important role the organization plays in addressing the needs of local residents. The experience offered valuable insight into the challenges faced and the many ways community organizations and volunteers can make a difference.
With more than 40 volunteers participating, EYA folks worked together on a variety of projects designed to support Cornerstones' ongoing community outreach efforts. Volunteers assembled hot beverage packs and snack packs that will be distributed throughout the community. Others helped sort and organize donations in the organization's warehouse, preparing essential items for distribution to those in need.
Team members also created handwritten notes of encouragement to accompany the snack packs, adding a personal touch and a message of kindness for the recipients.
From assembling care packages to organizing donations, each activity provided an opportunity for EYA employees to collaborate while contributing to Cornerstones' mission.
At EYA, building homes is just one part of our commitment to creating thriving neighborhoods. Through the EYA Foundation, we support local nonprofit organizations and encourage team members to give back to the communities where we live and work.
Our Day of Service with Cornerstones brought together colleagues from across the EYA team, reinforcing the value of working together to make a difference beyond the neighborhoods we build.
