Washingtonians enjoy some of the best cultural amenities available, with countless venues, organizations, schools, and events throughout the city.

Northeast DC, in particular, is arts-rich and is home to Dance Place and Atlas Performing Arts Center - two professional organizations offering performances and instruction.

For younger students, the Kirov Academy of Ballet of the Washington, DC metro area is one of the most prestigious schools of dance in the area. The academy not only serves students from grade 7 to 12 with premier dance lessons, but also serves as a dual high school offering diplomas. Since its founding in 1990 by Reverend Sun Myung Moon, this school has trained countless numbers of youth in the art of universal ballet.

Graduates of The Kirov Academy of Ballet include Sascha Radetsky, Rasta Thomas, Michelle Wiles, Danny Tidwell, Tyler Nelson, Oscar Hawkins, Maria Bystrova, Adrienne Canterna and Ashley Canterna. Sascha Radetsky is now a soloist with the American Ballet Theatre and an actor.

If dance or acting is of interest to yourself or your children, Chancellor’s Row Townhome Community is the perfect place for which to enhance those desires close to home.

In September 2010 The Kirov Academy of Ballet announced its hiring of Martin Fredmann as Deputy Artistic Director and Nikolai Kabaniaev as senior boys’ teacher. Both studied under Konstantine Chatilov at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
