About the Project
Together with the Brownstones at Chevy Chase Lake, the Lindley forms a cohesive, mixed-income, transit-oriented neighborhood in the heart of Chevy Chase, MD.
With a five-acre site in one of the District’s most sought-after communities, Montgomery County’s Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) saw the opportunity to address a particular need. Low- and moderate-income families were hard pressed to find housing in Chevy Chase, and HOC recognized the potential to connect residents with high-quality education, employment, and ultimately transit with the forthcoming Purple Line development. But a means for creating financially self-sustaining affordable housing while maximizing land value seemed elusive.
Working closely with HOC to understand all barriers to development, EYA proposed a cohesive community consisting of for-sale townhomes and multifamily rental units — apartments that would deliver exceptional lifestyles for low- and moderate-income households. With 40 workforce units, and another 40 that target households at or below 50% of AMI, The Lindley is part of comprehensive site plan that increases density, maximizes the future light rail investments and quadruples the amount of long-term housing for low- and moderate-income families.
