This weekend is calling for clouds and rain, so what better chance to check out AFI Silver's Latin American Film Festival.

At last, the acclaimed eateries of downtown Silver Spring will unite for one delicious week. September 8-13, 2015, participating restaurants will offer two-course lunches for $12 and three-course lunches for $17. Two-course dinners will be available for $17 and three-course dinners will be offered for $27. Over a dozen restaurants are signed up to participate and you can make reservations here. Our top picks? The homes at Chelsea Heights are in a walkable setting just steps from downtown Silver Spring, so a little exercise is easy to achieve! We hope to see you there.

The all-new Silver Spring library has set an incredible design standard for libraries around the nation. Designers, county officials and neighbors gathered recently in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 90,000-square-foot building, which is expected to earn LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The EYA Foundation proudly donated 25 backpacks to Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) as part of the company's summer meeting in Bethesda. MHP provides the backpacks to kids-in-need at their after-school homework club in Silver Spring. The organization operates affordable housing communities throughout Montgomery County and serves their residents with a variety of programs designed to improve quality of life. Summer's back and so are Downtown Silver Spring's Friday night concerts! From EYA's townhomes at Chelsea Heights, stroll right down Ellsworth into the heart of Silver Spring and discover a jazzy, delightful and hip collection of local artists. Tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m., enjoy the sounds of Ruben Montoya and his "funky blues roots rock" while sipping a cocktail from one of the many patio bars. Or bring the little ones to dance on the plaza with an ice cream in hand. The concerts are just one of the countless amenities in Silver Spring. We hope to see you there!
