With a focus on its Smart Growth Initiative, Montgomery County saw a tremendous opportunity in a 90-acre industrial site it owned alongside the Shady Grove Metro station.
It selected EYA as master planner based on an approach that included actively helping to shape the Sector Plan, engaging with the local community, and securing the entitlements. As contract purchaser of roughly half of the site, EYA has been transforming 45 acres since 2010. Westside at Shady Grove is a vibrant neighborhood featuring 407 townhomes, more than 1100 apartments, 80K sq ft of retail, and community amenities that are positioning it as a hub for Montgomery County.
Families are already coming home to the first phase of townhomes — more than 100 have sold. And the Daley, Westside’s first multifamily building has an occupancy of over 50%.
