Downtown Silver Spring offers residents the perfect walkable lifestyle with easy access to Metro, shopping, dining and more. In the coming years, residents will have even more retail choices and green spaces to enjoy with the redevelopment of the Blairs apartments complex.

The redevelopment will replace older apartments and parking lots with new multi-family units, shopping and public spaces. The plan calls for 2,800 residential units, 450,000 sq ft of retail and commercial use and 20% of the area reserved for public space and urban parks. When complete, the area will be transformed into a more urban, pedestrian-friendly space.

Preliminary work of demolishing the first phase of buildings has begun. Construction on new buildings is scheduled to begin in early 2015 with the entire project expected to take a decade to complete.
