5th Annual National Dump the Pump Day

Today is the 5th Annual National Dump the Pump Day, designed to encourage folks to take public transportation instead of driving their own cars.

Sure we all still need cars, but many 2-car households would be amazed at how much money they can save on an annual basis by reducing to a 1-car household and commuting other ways such as taking the train, riding the bus, walking, riding a bike, or even periodically using a rented ZIP car.

Studies show that a 2-car household can save up to $9,000 annually by reducing to a 1-car household and using public transportation. That’s a lotta change for making a good change if you ask me. And with Old Town Commons having such easy access to all of these alternatives to the car, making the change is even easier here than way out in suburbia. We like to think of it as "life within walking/biking/riding/relaxing distance". Pass it on.
