In the mood for a great workout? Maybe go for an indoor run on a hot summer day, shoot some hoops, lift a few weights, take a dance class, or step into the ring for a boxing match?
Whatever your pleasure, you’re sure to find something you love to get your blood moving at the City of Alexandria’s Charles Houston Recreation Center, directly across the street from Old Town Commons. This brand new 35,000 square-foot amenity is also equipped with a library and computer room, game room, as well as numerous senior activity rooms and meeting rooms. Private rentals are available for events and parties.
For folks with younger children, discover the pre-school arts and crafts area, or the state-of-the-art “tot lot” playground. Classes, child care, and a full host of activities are available year round. The most popular children’s attraction: the neighborhood mini-pool, open to children through age 13, in July and August, with free admission. And don’t forget to take advantage of the many programs offered there. The “Hanging Out Late Night” program is perfect for young adults interested in everything from joining a basketball league to computer training.
With so many options, it would be silly not to give this place a visit. We bet you’ll stay a while!
