Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22nd, is a great opportunity to reflect on our impact on the environment and evaluate the choices we make in our daily lives, including where and how we live. EYA thinks green not only when it comes to how we build, but also how our homeowners will live. This includes building neighborhoods in close-in locations with easy access to transit and open green spaces, recycling construction materials, environmentally-friendly home features and more. EYA builds new home communities in close-in locations that offer easy access to transit, shops, restaurants, recreation and more. Many EYA communities are nearby parks and trails, and even provide onsite open green spaces, such as Tysons Ridge, which will feature a fitness area, open lawns, outdoor seating areas, walking trail and more.
From site development to the construction process, EYA is dedicated to minimizing waste. At Tysons Ridge for example, 80% of the demolition debris from the former office building onsite has been recycled. And our commitment to sustainable design extends to the home construction and features. New construction homes can offer increased energy efficiency compared with older homes.
The homes at Tysons Ridge will offer green building third party certification, and energy saving features such as an air tight building envelope (which can help reduce utility bills), low VOC finishes, ENERGY STAR appliances, water saving plumbing fixtures and more.
