Last Wednesday, October 24, 2012, EYA gathered with the DC Housing Authority, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, HUD and Councilmember Tommy Wells to celebrate the completion of Capitol Quarter.
EYA’s Capitol Quarter was hailed as the nation’s leading example of how private companies, housing authorities and municipalities can work together to design and build a neighborhood for residents of all income levels. The seven-city-block redevelopment project includes affordable rental homes, workforce homes and market-rate townhomes in the new ballpark district called Capitol Riverfront.
Government leaders praised the architecture, construction quality, landscaping and overall income integration. Two residents spoke, one market-rate and one public-housing, and both commented that living at Capitol Quarter is a truly life changing experience and they can’t wait to enjoy the neighborhood’s new amenities.
Capitol Quarter is EYA's seventh development in the District of Columbia and the company has built over 30 neighborhoods throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.
