As an update to our previous post about the Yards development near Capitol Quarter, developer Forest City announced this morning the names of seven restaurants that will open at the Yards in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. At the Foundry Loft Apartments, Kruba Thai and Sushi and Potbelly will open during the first quarter of 2012. At the historic Navy Yard Boilermaker Shops, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group will open Buzz Bakery and a new craft beer brewery. In addition, New Orlean's-inspired Huey’s 24/7 Diner and new restaurant concepts Austin Grill Express and brb – be right burger will all open in the Boilermaker Shops in Fall of 2012.

Forest City also announced that the much-anticipated major grocery store that will be in 401 M Street Building will be Harris Teeter. The 401 M Street Building will break ground by the end of the year and the Harris Teeter is expected to open for business in 2013.

President of Forest City Washington Deborah Ratner Salzberg said, “We are excited to announce these terrific restaurants and the addition of Harris Teeter to this vibrant, growing, mixed-use waterfront neighborhood. It is a perfect mix of both local and regional businesses, several of which are new restaurant concepts to complement the unique urban character of the community.”
