It seems like just yesterday that EYA opened for sales at Capitol Quarter. The 2006 grand opening was met with great anticipation and excitement. Visionary home buyers camped out in line for days for the first chance to own in what would be one of DC's most sought after neighborhoods.
The promise of new neighbors fueled expectations of something great coming to what is now known as Capitol Riverfront: Nationals Stadium, Yards Park on the Waterfront, Boilermaker Shops and Restaurants, a brand new headquarters campus for Department of Transportation, and more.
Since then, EYA has sold 90% of its 323 new homes at Capitol Quarter and a few early home buyers have seen appreciation of nearly 40% from their original home purchase price. It didn't take long for Washingtonians to appreciate how special Capitol Quarter is, with historically-inspired architecture built to today's envir0nmentally friendly LEED standards. Views of the Capitol Dome and Yards Waterfront Park don't hurt, either.
Just last August, nearby developer Forest City announced that it has attracted several upscale retailers to occupy their new retail spaces, which will open next Fall. Soon to come within walking distance are: Austin Grill Express, brb, Buzz Bakery, a craft brewery by the Churchkey folks, and Huey's 24-7 Diner, just to name a few.
This weekend, EYA will release the final 12 market-rate townhomes for sale at Capitol Quarter. Priced from $715,000, the new homes feature garage parking; two, three or four bedrooms; and optional rooftop terraces. Construction should be fully complete by this time next year.
